He was sports editor in the AP's Connecticut bureau and, later, an AP regional correspondent and national business and arts writer. He served Xerox Corporation for six years as a public relations executive, speechwriter and communications adviser before starting his own firm in 1993. Since then he has provided advisory, editorial, marketing and other communications services to clients in high technology, biotechnology, financial services, management consulting, transportation system design, higher education and the arts. Peter's diverse portfolio of private-practice clients has included ADP, BJM Pumps, Canon USA, Choate-Rosemary Hall School, Fairfield University, HNTB, Imagistics/Oce, Indigo/HP, J.P. As Essex Publishing's chief content officer, Peter is the company's primary client liaison and is responsible for strategic and content-related aspects of the work. He collaborates with clients to identify audiences and objectives, to select appropriate media, to craft messages and themes and to support those themes with editorial and visual content. In addition to directing a team of authors, editors, proofreaders, indexers, graphic designers, video producers and web developers to deliver Essex's work, Peter plays a key role in business development, writing proposals and participating in presentations to prospective clients; he also led the development of Essex's web site and directs the effort to keep it current.
